Check Tires

The two tires that hold up your motorcycle make constant contact with the pavement and they need to be thoroughly checked often. Use a tire-pressure gauge to check their pressure, then air them up to the specified psi levels in your owner’s manual. While you’re down there, make sure that each tire has sufficient tread depth and that there are no embedded objects or sidewall cracks.

Top Up Fluids

Your motorcycle needs clean, fresh fluids to run properly. Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean, then insert it into your oil reservoir again so that you can check the color and consistency of your oil. Clean and runny oil can be topped off, but sludgy oil has to be changed immediately. You should change the oil and air filters at the same time.

Check your gas and fill it up completely before a ride, particularly a longer journey that takes you out of the city. Make sure your radiator has plenty of coolant to keep the engine running smoothly.

Do a Test Ride

Finally, hop on your bike and cruise around your neighborhood to test your lights, brakes, and signals. Speed up and slow down to test the responsiveness of your accelerator, then apply the brakes at different speeds to make sure they don’t grind, squeal, or even fail to activate.
